According to the Balanced Scorecard Institute, the balanced scorecard (BSDC) is a strategic planning and management system that organizations use to – 1) communicate what they are trying to accomplish 2. align the day-to-day work that everyone is doing with strategy 3. prioritize projects, products, and services, and 3. measure and monitor progress towards strategic targes. The system connects the dots between big picture strategy elements such as mission, vision, core values, strategic focus areas, and more operational elements such as objectives, and initiatives.
